To further the leaked info obtained by Pocket PC Tools, CNet is confirming the rumor with more details about Windows Mobile 2003 Second edition, that is expected next week. I am not sure exactly whether they have the release date correct or not. But it sounds good doesn't it?! "Mobile software developers, who would work with any update to the operating system, are set to gather in San Francisco next week for a Microsoft conference. Chairman Bill Gates is scheduled to give a keynote speech at the conference on Wednesday"
They also quote Toshiba as stating existing Toshiba customers will be receiving the update free of charge.
Boy, I hope that's true!

HI there. The exuberance in this forum has swayed me to the VGA PDA camp. However, I just heard that Toshiba discontinued the e805, but that folks hope it's just to replace the OS with the very-soon-coming new OS that fully supports VGA mode.
But I have had that upcoming OS referred to as windows mobile 2004. Isn't that just for cell phone covergence devices? Doesn't the e805 fun on Pocket PC 2003 Premium? Isn't that different from Windows Mobile 2003?
And... if there is no more e805 being sold, how do current e805 owners get support? Is it worth waiting and indeterminate amount of time for the next release of whatever the e805 is becoming? (It seems to me there is already a community of e805 users, and a number of patches and optimizing software, whereas we'd have to start all over again for grassroots hacks/support/improvements on the next model. Should I just get an e805 while I can, and not worry about manufacturer updates unless my e805 somehow goes kaput?
Believe it or not, I think the e805 is destined to become my very first PDA, mostly because my primary reason for getting a PDA is to use is (with a portable full-size keyboard) instead of a laptop in grad school -- taking notes in class, writing drafts while researching in the library, etc. I'm a fan of spreadsheets for organizing my thoughts and arguments, so VGA is quite appealing, especially if many programs allow resizing of text withitn VGA mode.
Anyway, looking forward to reading your thoughts, and thanks again for this info-packed forum!
