Review: Socket Low Power CF 802.11b WLAN card

If you, like me, have a device that does not have WiFi built in, you have no doubt struggled with finding just the right CF or SD Wifi card to use with your Pocket PC. What makes the "perfect" card? Well, that depends on you. For me, the perfect card is inexpensive, uses very little power and doesn't jut so far out of the top of my iPAQ. For you it might be different.
iPAQ HQ has a review of Socket Low Power CF 802.11b WLAN card for those of you still trying to decide on a card. In fact, after hearing some of the results on the range and low power, I may have to rethink my Ambicom CF 1100 too. Oh well... :?
"First of all, this is a new model; the easy way to tell the two models apart is that the new model has two LEDs (the blue LED indicates power consumption, while the amber LED indicates WLAN activity) whereas the older model has a single LED. Personally, I like having the two LEDs; there's something reassuring in having separate indicators for these two processes. The physical size, power consumption and other details are substantially the same as the older model. Other than that, the new version includes the Socket WLAN Tools Utility which provides "network monitoring and troubleshooting tools and configuration of advanced features that are not otherwise provided in Windows."

it is my understanding that SDIO uses less power then CF, do you know if that is true? I use the SanDisk Low Power SDIO WiFi Card.

I believe you are right about that. I've been curious about the SDIO wifis. How do you like your card? What type of battery life do you get?
