Here's a great story about Schlotzsky's Deli and their recent campaign to give free use of computers and WiFi access to their stores. "We get incredible heartfelt 'thanks' from customers for making free Wi-Fi available, and they reward us with their business," says Landers. "It's also extended our business beyond the lunch hour so that the restaurant feels alive at all times. It has made our restaurants truly 'hotspots' - and after all, isn't that what every restaurant wants to be?"
I think alot of business owners can look at their model and figure out a way to make it work for them also. I haven't heard anything about how Starbucks and T-Mobile are doing with their Hotspot initiative, have you? (I assume not that well, because of the cost to consumers....or they would be advertising it a bit more....don't you think? )
Back to Schlotzsky's ....The Company has tested free Wi-Fi in selected restaurants in its home state of Texas for more than a year, and the early results are in: More than 40 percent of customers say that free Wi-Fi or the free use of in-store computers are factors in choosing Schlotzsky's™ to dine, and six percent say that free Wi-Fi is the key reason they chose to come to Schlotzsky's restaurants that day.
Would you frequent an establishment just for the main reason of free WiFi access?

Whenever you say Schlotzky's it reminds me of the Schlotzsky's that is local to me. It has the lights on every night, the tables appear cleaned there are stools turned up and put on the tables but as far as I know, nobody has been in there for 3 years! It's in a great location so I can't figure out what they are doing. I've even seen banners hanging from the building saying stuff like "Fresh Schlotzsky's," etc Are they just squatting there? If so, why?
It's like "Hey, come enjoy a nice Schlotzsky's Reuban sandwich." You get to the door "PSYCH!!! Got you again, you big dummy! "
But to answer the question, a local Bear Rock cafe has WiFi I try to go in there for lunch when I can. It's a blast surfin for free during lunch.
