Pre-Orders Now Being Taken for MyPal A716

The MyPal A716, a Pocket PC with multiple forms of wireless networking and dual memory-card slots, is going to be available in the U.S. next month. PROportable is taking pre-orders for it now.
The A716 will run Windows Mobile 2003 on a 400 MHz XScale PXA255 processor. It will have 64MB of RAM, of which 55 MB is available to the user. It will include 64 MB of ROM.
It will be the first model from ASUS to offer both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless networking. This will allow users to connect to the Internet while at their home or office through a Wi-Fi access point, and connect through a Bluetooth-enabled phone when they are out and about.
This model will have a 3.5-inch transflective screen at the Pocket PC-standard resolution of 240 by 320 pixels. In addition, the A716 will include an SD/MMC slot and a CompactFlash slot.
Of course it will come with the standard Pocket PC apps for editing Microsoft Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. It will also have the Pocket PC version of the Windows Media Player so it can play MP3s and video in the Windows Media format. In addition, it will include an email application, date book, and address book, all of which can synchronize with Microsoft Outlook.
The A716 will be 5.4 inches long, 3.1 inches wide, and 0.7 inches thick. It will weigh 6.5 ounces. Its casing will have a purple-silver tint.
This handheld will come with a 1500 mAh lithium-ion swappable battery. Users will have an option of purchasing a 3000 mAh lithium-ion replacement battery.

Those wishing to pre-order the MyPal A716 should send an email to sales@PROportable.com. The cost will be $500 and the handheld will be bundled with three games from PDAmill: Anthelion, Snails, and Gamebox Classics.
Quantities will be limited and PROportable recommends that those who really want an A716 should pre-order. The web store expects to have the device in stock in mid-February.

I don't know about you, but I like to be able to go to Bestbuy or someplace and actually hold the device in my hands before I'll order it online...
