Removing icons ????

Sorry to be a pain, I know this has been asked many times....I have followed instructions by other members but to no avail.
I am a new Pocket PC owner, brought an iPaq 4150 just 4 days ago. I have installed additional software, some of which I have since deleted via Start\Settins\Systems\Remove Programs
This appears to have deleted the programs in full, however, when I select
Start\Programs there is still an icon present - that if I select, states Cannot Find (because the file has been deleted).
I have searched around the PPC and can find no files connected to the software I have deleted. Is my only option to format??? Have tried a soft format but no joy. This is causing a lot of humour to my friend who has a Palm and always slates Pocket PC
Any assistance would be welcome.

re: removing icons???

Hi JF,
It's been a while since that's happened to me, but if I remember correctly:
Open File Explorer. Navigate to Windows/Start Menu/Programs. The offending icon should be in there. Tap and hold it. Choose delete.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. Exactly what I was going to suggest.
