I'll admit that I personally haven't heard of Warlords or Warlords II for that matter. Apparently, I've been living under a rock. Because according to some, Warlords II is Undoubtedly the most popular turn-based strategy series in PC history.
With that said, PPC Studios made an announcement in their forums they will officially be releasing their Pocket PC Version of the game on October 27 of this year. They will begin beta testing somewhere around the 22nd of this month to registered users of their forums.
Anyone here played Warlords II on the PC? Is it any good? What type of Pocket PC game will it make?
This game looks pretty good... I've fool around with a few rpgs on my iPAQ (Shadowgate, Ultima), but haven't been very impressed. The interfaces are pretty muddled or the gameplay just doesn't hook me enough. I played both the games for at least 5 or 6 hours probably but was forced to start over or had lost a game because of misc bugs. In a long term game like rpgs that can be very annoying.
One game I'd love to see come out on pocket pcs is the first rpg I ever played on a computer: Wizardry. A series of 8 games that really started the first person view rpg. It had everything from ninjas to robots . Anyone every played any of them?
Warlords is a fantastic game! The series has been around since the mid-80s and has spawned off a ton of sequals. There's the original Warlords, Warlords II, Warlords II Deluxe, Warlords III - Reign of Heroes, Warlords III - Darklords Rising and now Warlords IV - Heroes of Etheria, all great turn based strategy games. There's also Warlords Battlecry I, II and III which are RTS games based on the original. There was even a collectible card game like Magic at one time! These were done by Steve Fawkner at SSG - he now has his own company, Infinite Interactive or something like that.
I'm really glad to see someone finally doing a solid turn based strategy game for the pocket pc. The screenies look fantastic and I hope I can get in on the beta of this. This is a definate buy for me!
