Stop rogue access points from showing up on your network

I know that quite a few of the members and visitors to Pocket PC Addict are Network Administrators and/or tech managers. You know who you are. If you fit into one of those categories, or are just curious, this story is for you. Techrepublic has some tips on how you can find any unapproved WAPS or Routers on your network. One of the tools they mention (that you can use in the privacy of your own pocket) is Mini Netstumbler which scans for open networks as you walk around. Mini Stumbler is sort of like a giger counter for Wireless networks. Another hint they give to fight the illegal WAP is to install a WiFi Network yourself.
"having a user installing rogue access points can be a huge security problem. Therefore, it’s important to figure out ways of preventing this from happening. My first recommendation is to have your IT administrator install a wireless network and make it available to your users. I know that a lot of you are probably cringing right now because you feel that wireless networks are a security risk. Whatever your feelings are about wireless networks though, I’m sure that we can agree on one thing: It’s better for you to install a wireless network than to have your users do it behind your back."
Anyone have any "War Stories" about stumbling onto an unapproved WAP?

This is a huge problem for large companies.
In fact, a couple of days ago, the VP of IT/Telecomm at my company issues a broadcast statement to the entire company which detailed our policy on wireless. It was very lengthy, with HARSH penalty for violators.
I think wireless is great, and I would LOVE to have it b/c I HATE running cable. But at the same time, being a financial services firm means protecting customers' info at all costs.
OTOH, I should let the guy know that every hospital in the area uses wireless. So it has to be more secure than he thinks. Gartner still says wireless is the #2 threat to security.
