Hi Gang!
By now, you may or may not be aware there are various Linux distributions for Pocket PCs, including numerous sites devoted to the iPAQ.
What exactly is Linux, you ask? It is a "windows alternative" - loosely based on UNIX, it allows quicker manipulation of your computer's hardware (or PDA hardware) without the bloat of windows.
I just tried out a version of Linux for my PC, and I was impressed.
Why is this relevant for us? Well, take a no risk tryout on the PC, and then if you like, you can install a flavor on your Pocket PC.
The link to my article (shameless) is http://www.gadgetaddict.com
I MAY install Linux on my wife's iPAQ 3630 - but probably not until I buy her a 1910. Any donations?
I'm glad I saw this post, Gary. I had already gone to gadgetaddict.com and subsequently downloaded that Knoppix build that boots from the CD. I tried it a few days ago, and I like it! I, too, have been considering putting Linux on by partitioning my HD and slapping a full build on there. I use both Windows and Mac anyway, so why not go full circle and have a Linux distribution as well!
