It must be because you are just so popular - that´s alot of items.
Actually, if you keep having this problem every time, even after soft resetting your Pocket PC and your computer... Then I´d recommend deleting and recreating your partnership.
To do this:
1. open Activesync on your desktop
2. Undock your Pocket PC
3. Go to File>Delete partnership
4. Reboot everything
5. Dock your Pocket PC and create a new partnership.
