According to a CNEWS Tech News story, Dell Canada may be looking at a class-action lawsuit in Quebec for correcting an extra low price for the Dell Axim X5 Pocket PCs. What happened was Dell´s web site posted the price of the X5 as being between $89 and $118 when the actual price is between $379 and $549. People scrambled to get the units and Dell said (in effect) "Sorry we quoted the wrong price."
"But l´Union des consommateurs said in a news release that a number of customers placed Internet orders under the original price. It added Dell is violating Canadian competition and consumer-protection laws by refusing to honour the lower price.
"L´Union des consommateurs believes Dell is bound by the (original) price listed on its site," said the group, which is launching the suit along with Montrealer Olivier Dumoulin. "
Bad mistake by Dell? Yes! Good mistake for eBay Sellers? Yes! See - everybody wins!!
