Like it or not, you will go wireless in the next couple of years if you haven´t already. I was out just yesterday helping a friend buy a new Pocket PC and it seems like almost all of them now have some sort of wireless function. If the Pocket PC didn´t have wifi, it had bluetooth or GSM/GPRS.
What does all this wireless technology mean for the future? According to ComputerUser.com, "We have before us the extraordinary opportunity to transform how people communicate, and it requires profound commitment and collaboration from all of us in the wireless industry to realize this dream, said Juha Christensen, corporate vice president of the Mobile Devices Marketing Group at Microsoft. At Microsoft, we believe smart, customizable software based on industry standards, coupled with powerful devices and increased connectivity, will bring about a new era of wireless use that benefits all members of the wireless ecosystem and our customers. "
The only downside I see is: didn´t scientists do a bunch of studies with monkeys in the mid-90´s that found monkeys who used cellphones (read wireless) end up with brain tumors, bad breath and impotence? Poor monkeys were probably perfectly happy using LAN phones, but those pushy scientists demanded that they go wireless...
I don´t think there has ever been a verified study which has shown cancer. I think there is a scientist in a northern european country who keeps insisting that there is but is routinely dismissed by other scientists saying that the relationships barely show any significance at all.
