When Szantyr Software decided to make a Pocket PC clock program, they made it pretty to look at. But that wasn´t enough, so they added a chronograph feature, but that wasn´t enough, so they gave it an attractive interface. Still not satisfied, they made it talk to you! Finally, still not satisfied, they released it FREE!
"The main features of this program are: talking clock with date and weekday display, talking high-precision chronograph, talking timer up to 99 hours, beautiful and excellent graphic worldtime clock with over 470 cities, extra large display function that rotates display 90 degrees for maximising space. Apart from these features this application is the first and only talking application for PocketPC that can completely change all parameters (even the grammer and language) of all voice-output by using the special-developed VoicePack Pro technology... and all that in a sleek and user-friendly design."
I too, was disappointed after downloading the "free" software. I don´t mind the company wanting to market a profitable product, but any review should make this clear and not mislead their readers.

If you are referring to what I posted about this World Clock software as being misleading, in my defense, it appears I was mislead! When a company sends a press release stating they are releasing it free of charge, and we get a copy free of charge, it would make sense we would report it in that manner.
There have been other situations where a company will release the software free for 2 days just to get their software listed on enthusiast sites, just to turn around and charge for it.
All in all, I agree, if a company says it´s free, it should be free. If there is a charge for it, it should say shareware. Otherwise, it´s just a sad attempt at the bait and switch.
To set the record straight, I did not mean to imply that the author was deliberately misleading his audience. We shouldn´t kill the messenger. It´s a shame when developers partake in this practice (of bait & switch and similar tactics). I have no qualms if they had offered their product as trialware or shareware... there are plenty of good stuff worth spending a few bucks for, and often at a fraction of a similar commercial product´s cost.
