Does anyone know if there's a way to port the features of WM5's IE into WM2003se? Features like high-resolution and full screen mode. I really like being able to view website as they look on a desktop via my ppc but only wm5's ie has that high-resolution feature and so far the only way I've been able to do it with wm2003se is using ozvga or sevga thirdparty software which isn't program specific, but rather effect EVERYTHING. TIA.
Unfortunately, since the PIE browser is part of the OS, the WM5 version cannot be installed on WM2003SE. But there are alternatives. PIEPlus adds significant features to PIE and there is a 15-day trial version so you can take it fot a good test drive. Or you can try an alternative browser such as Opera (fast display rendering) or NetFront (slow but good general desktop-equivalent function). The Minimo project to bring Mozilla to the WM platform has left WM2003 behind and its most recent beta releases support nothing older than WM5 which is too bad since it is a very promising free replacement browser.
Thanks. Do you know if the extra settings in WM5's IE are registry entries? I have a reg editor for my device that has allowed me to tweak it and turn on/off settings, but I know that with the windows desktop regedit some keys have to be added in order to get certain functions, perhaps someone could dump the original registry from wm2003se and wm5 and then run a comparison.
I think the differences are too significant to be registry entries; more likely they reflect actual program code. Someone may know what can be tweaked by registry edits but you will find most of what you are looking for cannot be implemented via registry keys only. You will need to add to the code via an enhancement like PIEPlus.
