America Online offered up its newest, fastest service -- Optimized for Windows -- to a broader pool of subscribers on Tuesday as it boasted that independent testing proves it leaves other national ISPs in the dust.All members running Windows 98 and later can now download AOL 9.0 Optimized, the ISP giant's newest version of its access software by heading to the AOL keyword upgrade, said the Dulles, Va.-based company. When AOL first announced Optimized in early August, it made it available only to Windows XP and 2000 users connecting to the Internet via broadband links, such as cable, DSL, or satellite.Both broadband and dial-up users can now download and install 9.0 Optimized.
