Qualcomm Inc. sued Texas Instruments Inc. for breach of contract Friday, seeking to end an agreement allowing each company to sell chips for all standard wireless phones without infringing on patents.The action comes two months after TI said it would begin making chips to power CDMA phones in a joint venture with Nokia Corp. and ST Microelectronics NV. TI's chips power about half the world's mobile phones, but Qualcomm has enjoyed a lock on CDMA, an increasingly popular digital standard for handling calls.The lawsuit, filed in Delaware Superior Court, also seeks unspecified monetary damages.
