Lucent Technologies Inc. Tuesday said it will update Sprint Corp.'s high-speed wireless network in the United States under a multiyear deal worth up to $1 billion.Under the agreement, Murray Hill-based Lucent will provide advanced base stations and switching equipment for Sprint's network, as well as related software, equipment installation, and technical support services.The new equipment and services are expected to provide better performance and reliability systemwide.
