Deal promises integration of wireless charging technology into battery packs for mobile phones, PDAs and Bluetooth devices Splashpower Ltd - the Cambridge-based developers of a unique, wireless power recharging technology – today announced an evaluation programme with specialist Hong Kong-based manufacturers of custom power solutions, Celltronix Ltd. Under the evaluation programme, Celltronix will work with Splashpower to integrate the revolutionary new charging technology into a range of battery packs for mobile phones, PDAs and Bluetooth enabled devices.
Typically the size of a mouse mat, a SplashPad™ can simultaneously recharge a number of mobile devices simply by resting them on the pad. The first consumer products incorporating the technology should be in the shops around the end of the year.
Welcoming the deal, Splashpower CEO John Halfpenny said: “Splashpower™ is an innovative solution for charging electronic devices simply, easily and effectively. Our work with Celltronix will help to speed the availability of Splashpower-enabled devices and is an important step forward in our commercial programme.”
Celltronix is a well-established designer and manufacturer of chargers and power packs for consumer devices and specialist industry applications.
Celltronix CEO, Herve Jegou, said: “This is a significant agreement for Celltronix and we are excited by the chance to revolutionise the battery charging process and develop a "cool” charging solution for multiple devices. Our OEM customers are demanding a universal charging solution to satisfy consumers with multiple mobile and wearable electronics devices. Of all alternatives available today, Splashpower is by far the most suitable for consumer mobile devices.
“In addition, I believe that the after-market for Splashpower technology is potentially enormous, so as well as developing new products, we will also look closely at the opportunity to develop retro-fit battery packs incorporating Splashpower technology.”
