Is your Pocket PC good enough? That question came to mind while I was reading an article titled When good enough computing isn’t! Basically the author, Steve Wexler, was giving some insight into the gathering of Microsoft's hardware engineering partners at WinHEC2003. The theme of the article reveals Microsoft and other tech companies are in a bind because it is hard to sell new tech stuff.
Why? Because customers believe what they have is good enough!
Just look at that Pocket PC you have, many of us have XScale Pocket PCs that are running (albiet unoptimized) at 400Mhz - some have add on drives and cards that hold 1GB of data or more! If you take a look around the average office these days, you'll find desktops that are running slower than that. So why upgrade?
Well, that is the point of Microsoft's gathering. They are wanting to formulate the REASONS for companies and individuals to buy. How? By convincing people what they have ISN'T good enough.
So what do you think? Are you happy with what you have or are you going to be swayed into something better and faster?
