Nice Start - A Nice Way To Protect Your Data

Since I first started using my iPaq, I have often worried someone getting their hands on it and accessing my personal data. For me, the default password protection is not enough. It looks like I am not alone here.

Nice Start from TranCreative offers a great security tool. Most reviews of this product like the fact that it skins the password screen, but I feel the real value is in the additional security features, including:

* Log all password activities (see if someone is trying to access your PPC while you are out)
* Lock your PPC for a certain number of minutes after failed attempts.
* Support for the iPaq biometric/thermal password
* And my favorite - you can set your PPC to lock permanently or hard reset after a set number of failed attempts.

My iPaq is my primary source of computing when I am a client or away from my desk. There is a lot of confidential information I would like to keep that way. Perhaps I am a bit paranoid, but for me this is $10 well spent.
