Israel’s Bank Leumi Launches Mobile Banking Using MobiMate’s

REHOVOT, Israel, Aug 18th, 2002 – MobiMate, a prominent mobile software developer, is discussing implementation of its mobile banking system with large US banks. The system has been implemented and launched by Israel’s 2nd largest bank earlier this month. The “Leumi in Your Palm” system, allows every PDA user to receive banking information automatically. The system is based on MobiMate’s Mobile Application development Environment – MAPLE, which enables development & deployment of Information Systems on PDAs and Smart-Phones, and allows for simple and easy integration of them with legacy systems. MAPLE-based systems are already in operation with other Enterprise customers.

“Leumi in Your Palm” was developed in co-operation between the bank, which implemented the application and its interfaces with the legacy systems, and MobiMate, that customized MAPLE to support the bank’s Information Security requirements. This resulted in a world-leading system, both in its ability to serve the vast majority of Palm Powered device users (not just wireless device users), and in its superior user experience. The system is flexible, and the bank can add information queries and new services without necessitating development and distribution of client-side software, and while maintaining strict Information Security requirements. The bank currently offers the new service to its customers, as well as non-customers, who can use it to receive general financial information.

More information about Bank Leumi’s system is available at (Hebrew): http://www.leumi.co.il/Leumi/Home/0,2777,1771,00.html
