DDH Software incorporates “plug-in” architecture for Pocket

New External field enables third party applications to be called from within HanDBase DDH Software, Inc. today announces its new HanDBase 3.0 features an External field type that allows other Palm OS and Pocket PC applications to be called from within a HanDBase database. The new External field supports plug-ins, which are actually external applications that may be called from within HanDBase to provide additional features for users, such as image viewing, voice dictation, GPS entry, enhanced text editor, e-mail/web-browsing, and third-party hardware support. This new feature offers tight integration with the HanDBase databases and the ability to produce a virtually infinite amount of field types. The ability to call other applications from within a HanDBase database translates into added functionality for HanDBase users, giving them the benefit of using proven and established solutions that are seamlessly tied to their HanDBase records. “Our focus is on developing the most powerful, complete, and user-friendly mobile database application on the market,” said Roberto Macharro, senior programmer for DDH Software. “Most of the time we develop the solutions our customers need in-house, but in the case of a GPS or voice dictation solution, it makes greater sense to work with companies who are established and have developed successful technologies in these areas already.” DDH Software offers a Software Development Kit for those who want to explore the opportunity to develop custom applications driven by HanDBase. The Software Development Kit contains the necessary headers for the project development, example plug-in project (with source code) and documentation. The document provides the guidelines and methods for plug-in development. Developers can receive their Software Development Kit by contacting DDH Software at devsupport@ddhsoftware.com or by calling 561.967.3668. About DDH Software, Inc.
