Nexian Introduces Barcode Reading Capabilities for
The NexiCam ™ Digital Camera
Partnership with International Wireless’ CodePoint Software Extends the HP iPAQ Deeper into the Enterprise market
San Diego, CA – July 23, 2002 – Nexian, Inc. has announced a strategic partnership with International Wireless, Inc. (OTCBB:IWIN) whose CodePoint software will be bundled with the NexiCam™ digital camera beginning in the fall of 2002. Developed exclusively for the HP iPAQ, the NexiCam instantly converts the best-selling PocketPC into a digital video and still camera. By combining CodePoint software with the functionality of the NexiCam, the HP iPAQ is transformed into a powerful, cost-effective optical barcode-scanning device. “The addition of the CodePoint technology is a perfect accompaniment to our camera,” said Richard Kim, Vice President, Nexian, Inc. “The technology is compact, inexpensive, and has tremendous processing power. Now with this new functionality, enterprise mobile and wireless users of the HP iPAQ Pocket PC have options when it comes to processing transactions and maintaining inventory.”
The one-two punch of CodePoint software and the NexiCam for the HP iPAQ extends this Pocket PC beyond traditional office-type applications. Traditionally, mobile barcode reading systems have been expensive, cumbersome, dedicated, laser-based devices. Utilizing patented image processing algorithms, Codepoint enables a user to read 1D barcodes and 2D matrix codes quickly and accurately. In addition, CodePoint integrates with the NexiCam’s camera functions enabling the development of applications that use both barcode data and photos thus empowering a range of new business and consumer uses.

A trial version of CodePoint will be bundled with each NexiCam shipped beginning in Q4 2002 to allow customers to test the NexiCam/CodePoint combination for varying barcode-reading applications.
The NexiCam is a self-standing attachment, providing up to 45-seconds of digital video recording that is useful for business meetings and presentations. Additional features include a Compact Flash (CF) expansion slot, a user-configurable self-timer and the ability to store pictures to the iPAQ’s main memory or a separate CF memory card. The NexiCam is manufactured in the same durable material as the HP iPAQ for an integrated look and to withstand the demands of mobile computing. The NexiCam for the HP iPAQ is available for MSRP of $199.99 through major retailers including CompUSA and Mobile Planet.
