Fremont, CA July 10, 2002 – Today, PhatWare Corporation announced the immediate availability of CalliGrapher® 6.4, the new version of the industry leading handwriting recognition software for Windows Powered mobile devices. This new version has passed Microsoft logo-testing requirements and is now certified with the Designed for Microsoft Windows for Pocket PC logo.
CalliGrapher is a universal handwriting recognition software that understands how people normally write - natural cursive, print, and mixed cursive and print handwriting. Based on fuzzy logic and neural network techniques, it recognizes dictionary and non-dictionary words and arbitrary symbol sequences. CalliGrapher is user-independent, can be used immediately without training, and does not require users to memorize special symbols or change their writing style. In addition to English, CalliGrapher also offers support for French, German and Spanish languages.
This new version of CalliGrapher offers increased application performance, compatibility with a wider range of Windows Powered Pocket PC applications, a new recognition mode specifically designed to input email and Internet addresses, and other usability enhancements. "With certification of CalliGrapher, PhatWare continues to show its strong support for Microsoft’s efforts to provide Pocket PC users with the consistent user experience among certified mobile software products." said Stan Miasnikov, president of PhatWare Corporation. "CalliGrapher is our second product to be certified with the Designed for Microsoft Windows for Pocket PC logo."
PhatWare has now obtained this new logo certification for CalliGrapher and HPC Notes, two of its best selling products for Pocket PCs. These certification efforts are part of PhatWare’s participation in Mobile2Market, a new Microsoft program focused around enabling a process for the certification and market delivery of network-ready wireless applications for the Windows Powered Pocket PC and Smartphone software platforms.
"Microsoft introduced the Mobile2Market process earlier this year to ensure the quality of software and services for Windows Powered devices," said Shreedhar Madhavapeddi, program manager for the Mobility Group at Microsoft Corp. "PhatWare is being aggressive about obtaining certification for their applications; we're excited that its second application, CalliGrapher, has passed testing and is a part of the Designed for Microsoft Windows for Pocket PC logo family."
