WALTHAM, Mass., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Anyone who uses a wireless Pocket PC PDA will soon be able to talk to an interactive Yellow Pages. PlaceLinks today announced ``Voice-in-Place(TM)'' a voice-activated version of its Yellow Pages software application. The system will be demonstrated at the CTIA conference in Orlando's Orange County Convention Center, at the Conversay booth, #5263....V-I-P is a low cost, end-to-end implementation of internet yellow pages, comprising a content management, self-service advertiser billing, distributed XML cache servers for high speed data transfer, and a voice-activated PDA interface.
The voice response software, supplied by Conversay, operates entirely on the PDA, and avoids the delays involved in server-side voice recognition. All search items in the data are voice-activated, not just the screen commands. V-I-P includes the innovative ``six ways to search'' feature, allowing users to find brands, products, services and activities, as well as business names and categories. V-I-P is built for operators of data networks who want a complete, scalable, low cost solution for location-based mobile software applications.
