I am a bit dumbfounded. I don't know how it happened, but last night I went into the newsletter module to send out the latest PPC Addict Tipletter. As I was copying and pasting into the interface, I noticed "BING" I had a new email. A quick glance into outlook revealed that an empty PPCA tipletter had been sent! WTF?!?!
I have been communicating with tech support to find out how this happened and what can be done, but it looks like the real newsletter won't go out until this evening. I know several people have unsubscribed which I can't blame you...it's just sad that it happened. And I hope people don't view us as spammers as a result.
I got the empty...I clicked on the link and it was the unsubscribe link, which I decided not to do anything about.
After all the challenges the site has faced and how hard you have worked to get it back up, ONE empty newsletter is really no big deal. If it was 10 or 100, that might be something to unsubscribe for, and wait til it was fixed, but just one? Nah...
My only question is that I hoped that after I subscribed that the popup asking me to subscribe would stop popping up, which it has not. Anything to be done about that?
Thanks for the feedback and support. We still don't know what caused that. Could be a simple issue that I am using Opera browser and there might be a compatibility issue. I am only going to use IE in that module from now on.
As far as the pop ups go, let me look into that. Shouldn't be that difficult to do. The main reason it's front and center is in the crash, I found that 30 - 40% of the members had signed up that they wanted a newsletter. However, if yesterday was bad..the existing newsletter code built into PPCA is worse..much worse. We tried it for awhile a few years back and it was awful.
There isn't really a way to move those newsletter members into a new professional newsletter module without violating the "canned spam act" so I sort of had to scrap things and start over.
I am, of course, open to ideas and insights. So fire away
