ultraEars less pain, but how's the quality?

Last week, I put out a plea for someone to help me find a great deal on the Klipsch IFI speakers. For the most part, people reported very modest discounts - Amazon, gives a nickle off the list of $399.99 for example (Amazon sale price $399.94 W00t!) So perhaps to hold me over until a visit from Santa, headphones will do the trick?
These pictured above are the ultraEars from ezgear. There is a discussion over at Gizmodo about em where they are debating over the quality. First time I've heard that the Shure E2C's aren't comfortable.
C'mon, I can't be the only one out there who has though about listening heaven for iPOD and PPC....If you got some super secret headphone info, spill!

I have the Sony Fontopia in-ear headphones. I purchased as Best Buy for about $40, and I find them the be excellent. Very comfortable, which is why I got them in the first place. I can't stand ear buds or the like, because they hurt my ears, and these are great. They sound great to me, but I am nowhere near the connoisseur that you are Brad.
You can pick up a pair at BB and try them out, if you hate them, you can return them, no harm no foul.

Me a connoisseur?
I don't think I'm really that much of an audiophile. There are people who spend 10s if not hundreds of thousands on stereo gear. Looking at a $399 system isn't that extreme in comparison.
I guess when I heard how good those ifi's sounded I have been wanting a comperable or better sound experience.
