PDA Corps has posted a review of the Sokoban clone Hexoban by Simbsoft. I haven't tried it myself, but I always think it's cool when a developer takes a classic board game and adds animation or characters to the playing pieces (i.e. Battle Chess anyone?) Even if you're not an experienced gamer, it is likely that when you take a glimpse at the screenshots of Hexoban, Sokoban will come to your mind. Sokoban is a real classic, and like any good classic it is loved by many and hated by others. Having played some PPC clones and never really being really hooked by any of them, it was with renewed enthusiasm that I installed Hexoban.
Unlike some Sokoban clones already released for the PocketPC platform, Hexoban aims to take this type of game to a new level, adding a sort of a story, original graphics and the most interesting aspect: an isometric view with hexagons instead of squares
… meaning that instead of a 2D environment where you move the boxes/crates in levels composed of many squares, Hexoban uses a 3D environment with hexagons to compose the levels, which means that instead of moving in 4 possible directions, you now can move in 6 possible directions, which means more possibilities, but also more challenges.
