Microsoft Says if you are wanting better response and reliability from your .NET applications, they have released a new service pack 3 for the .NET compact framework. It is available for download now.
I have not installed service pack 3 for the compact framework yet. However I am hoping that it fixes a number of issues that occur with the current compact framework. Namely, on some devices the compact framework seems to die. One of the toughest problems to solve as a .NET developer for the Pocket PC is the mystery of why .NET fails on certain devices -- thus leading to their programs not working on those devices. In other words, an application such as Achieve-IT! could be installed on 100 iPAQ 2215 models and work just fine for 99 of them. The one other device cannot run Achieve-IT! nor can it run any .NET programs! Workaround? Hard reset . I believe all .Net developers can attest to this.
So, hopefully, this new service pack will address the problem. Any comments?
