Turn Your PC into an Access Point

If you are a WiFi home user like me, you probably on more than one occasion have had signal "issues". Maybe the range isn't quite up to speed or your signal is impeded by walls, etc. One solution is to go out and buy an access point to relay the signal or a Cantenna to boost it. But APs are somewhat pricey, cantennas can be unsightly and difficult to position. So what's the alternative? Marvell thinks they have the answer. A Wi-Fi Networking news article is discussing a Marvell's new gadget that will turn a working computer (even if off) into an Access Point.
"The idea is that LiveAP can be embedded in devices that are on intermittently without losing the AP function. Today, you can turn a Windows, Linux, or Mac computer into an ad hoc or (in certain cases) infrastructure access point, but only while the system is fully powered and not crashed. Marvell, a chipmaker, sees the device in computers, gaming consoles, and media centers."

This is just super! Always on WiFi for the PPC if you have your laptop with you. I want one.
