Exec: Windows Mobile On Palm "perfectly feasible"

An article over at Seattlepi.com that indicates running a version of Windows Mobile - be it embedded or otherwise on a Palm device may actually be embraced by Microsoft. Pieter Knook Senior Vice President of Mobile and Embedded Devices Division says it's not too far off base to suggest such a configuration.
"Asked about the possibility yesterday during a discussion with Seattle-area reporters, the senior vice president in charge of Microsoft's Mobile and Embedded Devices Division called such a scenario "perfectly feasible."
The development that made it feasible was last year's decision by Palm Inc. shareholders to separate it into two independent companies, one for hardware and another for the Palm operating system. The hardware company, known as palmOne, was bolstered at the same time with the acquisition of Handspring, the company behind the Treo line of smartphones."

They might have to boost the RAM a bit for me to even consider this scenario. Would you purchase a Palm device if it was running WM2004 software?

I wouldn't. I vehemently dislike "hard" icons and "hard" input areas on PDA devices. It always seemed like a waste of (potential) screen space. And it either forces you to use a particular input method, or having to resort to using some dorky sticker to overlay the hard input area.
There is nothing inherent in the Palm hardware that makes it "more desireable" than PPC hardware, IMO. It's always come down to the capabilities of the device and included software. I can't see what the benefit would be of running Windows Mobile on Palm hardware.
