My iPaq 4150 doesn't turn on when I hit the power button (or any other button for that matter), unless it's connected to external power or I perform a hard reset. It doesn't seem to be the batteries, because they work just fine. For example, after I turn on the unit (while connected to external power), I take it off the external power source, remove the power save timer, and it remains on, and it lasts several hours (about 10 hours straight without backlight, or about 90 minutes with backlight on at fullest level), so it's safe to say the batteries still hold plenty of charge (even though they are as old as the iPaq, about 3 years now). But if at any point I turn it off while running on batteries, then if I try to turn it on again, it won't come back on. At this point I can do a hard reset (even if just running on batteries), and it will come on and stay on until I hit the power button (or if I set the power save timer).
Also, if I turn it off and then back on real quickly (ie. less than a second between off and on), it will turn back on. But if I turn it off, wait more than a few seconds, and then try to turn it on, it will not power up.
The problem doesn't seem to be software-related, as the pda depicts the same behaviour even after doing a hard reset (thus being completely 'clean'). If it makes any difference, I currently have ROM 1.10 in English.
