Infosync has posted an interview with a Gateway official on the release of their X100 PDA that was due out last August. Gateway hasn't killed its PDA, but is looking at a wide variety of different technologies that might accompany an entry into the market, said Ted Ladd, a company spokesman. Those include Internet connectivity in the form of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth chips, as well as voice capabilities, he said.
"If we're going to do something, it has to be highly differentiated," Ladd said.
The article goes on to explain that Gateway is continuing to lose money and it cannot afford to compete with Dell and Sony in the PDA arena at this time.
I agree, HP is coming out with some spectacular innovative Ipaqs right now and Gateway would just be "another" PDA rather than a leader in the market. What do you think?
