I've had my 8525 for about a week now and having been a PocketPC user since the hp Jornada days I really love it. I have run into a problem with my Motorola H700 bluetooth headset. I've used this same headset with the Motorola Razor and I can hear the actual ringtones through the headset loud and clear. With the 8525 I only get the standard beep notification of a incoming call.
I have searched HTC's and Cingular's website, this forum and googled hundreds of pages and I can't find this problem mentioned anywhere. I even read the manual that came with the 8525 (That was a first).
I use distinctive rings extensively but it does no good if I can't hear it through the headset. Am I missing something, or is the 8525 not capable of this. It is bluetooth 2.0 and A2DP compliant correct? Is anyone here able to hear the actual ringtones through your bluetooth headset?
Brian,
I suspect there is some similarity between your question and a separate thread "8125 and BT stereo headset"-sbennet regarding listening to music via a BT headset. There may be a workaround with some limitations.
BTW, not that this answers your question, but couldn't u still hear the custom ringtones from the phone itself? Regardless, I hope u find a solution to your problem. If u do, please post here as I'd like to check it out myself, but currently too preoccupied to investigate.
Chris
Yes It does seem quite dumb since I could hear the phone itself. But I normally keep it at the lowest setting (so as not to disturb others) and most I the time I don't hear it ringing so I only know its ringing because of the beep in th headset. Then I have to open the cover on my belt, take out the phone and look at it to see who is calling. If the ringtone came through the headset then I would know who is calling without having to tke out the phone and look at it.
