Hello - newbie to your forum here, who's having a problem with my Ipaq. I'm not quite sure where this goes so I'll try here.
Lately when I've got my Ipaq 2215 in the sync cradle, it will just lose it's connection with ActiveSync. Sometimes it will reconenct, other times Windows will pop up the message "One of the USB devices attached to your computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." Resetting the PDA will correct this temporarily.
Do any of the gurus here have any suggestions as to what my problem could be and how to resolve it?
Have you installed anything new on your desktop? Is your IPAQ 2215 connected to a USB hub? I've heard of this problem before because its on the tip of my tounge... answer these questions first and hopefully I can remember what to do!
No new software that I can think of, and no USB hub. I'm wondering if maybe it's just getting kind of loose on the cradle and will jiggle loose. Is that possible?
Unless you have an an earthquake every day! If you have another computer I'd check to see if it still has the problem when connected to it. Also try to uninstall and update ActiveSync, that sometimes does the trick as well.
Why not try your other USB port and check if you are experiencing the same problem, also you might want to look your Firewall settings if your using Windows XP SP2. Let us know if this works...
Keep us updated in it.

The caveat to the "new software" question (and to a degree the firewall issue as well) is that I'm connectiong to my work computer. I guess it's possible they've added some software I'm not aware of. Likewise, any security settings are out of my hands.
I'll try reinsalling Activesync and switching the USB port and see what happens. Thanks for the ideas.
Ok, I'm really starting to think it is a physical connection issue of some kind - I couple of times today I've touched the screen while it was in the cradle and it disconnected.
If that is the case, does anyone have a feel for if the problem is in my PPC or the cradle?
Ok - I'm starting to get worried. I came in today and my PPC won't connect at all - even after rebooting it, nothing at all happens when I put it on the cradle. The thing is, it DOES charge while on the cradle. Does this point to the problem being in the PPC, or am I just being paranoid?
Hmm... have you tried another USB port on your PC or even another computer? My guess is either the cradle is messed up or the port is. Did you get your cable yet?
I don't have the cable yet - I'm probably just being paranoid. Hopefully I'll get the cable in a day or two and all well be well. I WAS finally able to get it to sync again after a couple of reboots (PPC and PC) and messing witht he PDA on the cradle - SOMETHING is messed up in that connection. I just hope it's the cradle and not the unit.
