I am very new to Pocket PC 's I have an HTC 8125 Cingular (birthday present) I have had some success in getting started but I cannot seem to get connected to my home Wifi network. It's a cable modem and Dlink wifi router. I have taken all the security off to try and make it connect. WEP enabled and disabled etc. The network card see the network and says it's available then it says connecting and then it trys to connect to my neighbors wifi and does the same thing. There must be a setting on my router or phone that is not right.
Also since I admittedly have no phone/PDA saavy Is there some literature on this stuff like PDA for dummies. I am looking at downloading my email and I have no Idea what some of the terms are. This sounds pretty desperate doesn't it Anyway glad to be here and looking forward to getting up and running. All help is appreciated.
Hey Slabrat!
First of all welcome to this great community....
About your wifi connection, your pda have 802.11b connection type so better check your router and make sure that it supports both b and g connection.
If you want to Learn more about your device. I suggest try to visit microsoft mobile help you might learn something.
Dont worry about your new pocket pc a lot of members here are knowlegable about it. I'm sure they are willing to answer any question that you have, don't hesitate at all.

The 8125 is only 802.11b so if your router only supports 802.11g you might be in trouble. I've played with so called hacks that allow b to work on g and IEEE states that g should be compatible with b but the truth is they never really are. If it was me I would change my router for one that does b and g as they have come down in price so much now. Let us know how you get on I would be interested to hear if you have any success.

and before you go running of buying a new router, make sure to test your phone at starbucks/other places, if it connects there, play with your router some, worst that could happen, since you might have to get a new one.
