If you like to listen to music in your car using your Pocket PC as an MP3 player, you may have considered using an FM transmitter to get the job done. These little devices grab the audio out of your Pocket PC's miniplug and sends it to the radio where you'd tune to a station like 107.7 to listen to it. If everything is clear you get a wireless connection to your car stereo, if everything isn't clear you get a big throbbing headache. :?
The gadgeteer has posted A Review of just one sort of device. The ZUKZ FM Transmitter, where unlike other units, this one utilizes your car's cigarette lighter jack to power the unit instead of batteries. To use it, you tune your FM car radio to 107.7 +/- 0.5 MHz. Plug the ZUKZ into the cigarette lighter socket. Plug the 30" standard sized phono connector into the earphone jack any audio device such as an iPod, CD player etc. That's all there is to it.
I am lucky that channel 107.7 is clear in my area. So, I didn't have any problems using this device to transmit music from my iPod through my car stereo. Depending on where you live, this may or may not be the case for you.
Personally, I've never had any luck with these things. It's always too frustrating to get the channels synced right and the music is lackluster at best. What do you all think? Do you use an FM transmitter that's worth it's salt? Or are they all junk?
