Asus Mypal A620 Compact flash

Hey everyone,
I have a pretty esoteric question I was hoping you could help me with (asus has been less than helpful and I am not sure where to find out this sort of information). I am interested in using a compact flash to PCMCIA adpater with the Asus A620. That seems like no problem. I would like to use a cell-based PCMCIA modem that requires a maximum of 790mA (with a typical current draw of 390mA).
Does anyone have experience using cell-based modems with PocketPCs?
Would the Asus Mypal be able to supply enough current so my card will get powered?
Any advise on the topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know if this will help you out but I used a Merlin PCMCIA modem card with my Ipaq 3835 through Verizon and I didn't have a single problem....in fact I used to switch the card over to my laptop and use there also..Is that similar to what you are asking?

yeah, that is very similar to what I am thinking of. Specifically, I am interested in using this card for VOIP on my pocket PC. Did you notice a significant reduction in battery life when you had the PCMCIA card plugged into the ipaq? Do you know what sort of current draw the verizon card you were using has? The other part I am concerned about is I was planning on using a Compact flash to pcmcia adapter and I am not sure if the Mypal can supply enough to the compact flash slot....but I guess they wouln't make adapters if it didn't adhere to the PCMCIA spec, right?

I would see my Ipaq drop down to about 1.5 hours for battery power when using the card.

Well don't forget, BK had a 38xx model where you have an ASUS (which gets better battery life). It might be ok with more recent cards.
Just a thought

Brad's right...that was an old PPC and the card was purchased two years ago....I think you would have a much better experience with the Asus and a card purchased today.
