Review: Toshiba e805 Pocket PC Nearly Has it All

Here is an article dear to my heart. PocketPCCity has posted a review of the Toshiba e805. The author talks about its great display and comparisons with the Ipaq 5550. I've had my Toshiba for two months and it has been the best PPC I have ever owned. I have purchased a couple of periperals and can use my Toshiba as a laptop replacement if needed. If you are on the fence about purchasing a new PPC, read the reveiw.
Toshiba's e805 Pocket PC nearly has it all, a fast processor, gobs of memory, easy navigation, Wi-Fi, and a large display. It is, hands down, one of the best Pocket PCs we've seen.
It has nearly all the features, Wi-Fi, memory, expansion and power, one would want in a Pocket PC. But what sets it apart is the device's display, which is one of the brightest and largest available. In most areas, it rivals or surpasses Hewlett-Packard's iPAQ h5550. Not if only it had Bluetooth.

Do you have a Toshiba e80x? What do you think of it?

Well, I'll put it this way... I take it to bed with with me every night and the wife is starting to develop some attention-deprevation issues.
"What's more important, me or getting another 6000+ score on Jawbreaker?"
Seriously, I am so happy with this machine. Like you I've had it only a couple of months but am glad I invested the extra cash to get it shipped over here. You realize that Toshiba has STILL not released a Japanese version of the e800??
Here's hoping the affair lasts as long as my Casio E-2000 one did.

I think that's very noble of you to take it to bed and not stay in the living room or kitchen with your Toshiba. You're wife should be very grateful that you are letting her share in your experiences.

I think the Toshiba e805 is way overrated and VGA is just a flashy gimmick used by MS to sell more operating system upgrades.

My e800 should be waiting for me when I geet home today.
I figure I will ove it though.
I bought it based on multi media capabilities.
oh, and that large VGA screen
I still have alot of add-ons to buy for it, but I am getting there.
How is the USB capability?
I want to get the multi format USB card reader for it.
Am I going to have hell finding a driver?

I have to say, I'd Love to pick up one of these, But, I just purchased a new Compaq Presario 3055CA laptop. Kind of negates the need a high-powered handheld. Or does it?

I have a Compaq Presario X1015 and an e805 but I normally just carry the e805 with me as the Compaq doesn't fit in my pocket as well.

I don't think card readers work. The only devices I've seen reported as working are keyboards (no drivers needed), mice (driver and pointer needed), and hard drives. Rule of thumb on hard drives is that if a drive does not require a driver to work in Windows XP then it should work in the Toshiba with the RATOC driver.

BK don't let the man keep you down send me your 805 for a used 3950
That is a great review... how is the IR on your PPC, good enough to use as a remote? That is one of the strengths of the 3950 the IR can be used from coach to my big screen.. My room is 25' long.
