Hi there,
I resantly ordered a Toshiba e800, and was wondering,,
Will the 4 Gig Micro Drives work in the Toshiba e800?
And, if so, aproximately how much do they shorten battery life?
Thanks
-John
Yes, others have reported using them no problem. In fact, when the Muvo2 started selling on Amazon and other online retailers for $200 a big underground market sprung up since that device has a 4 GB microdrive in it. Many people have bought the Muvo, removed the microdrive, and popped it into their PPC (including the e800).
Continuous access from a Microdrive will shorten the battery life substantially. For this reason some programs (MP3 players and video players) buffer the files to memory so the drive doesn't have to spin all the time.
I have been using a 1gb microdrive for several years and it works great for me.
