I'm starting to look into GPS for my Toshiba e805. Does anyone know what I need to get in regards to hardware? Or any recomendations to what is best? I currently use Mappoint 2004 and would like to continue using that but I don't know if I can or not or if it's even worth it or whether I should look into a stand alone GPS unit.. Any help would be appreciated.

I use Pharos GPS and there device is serial, so I can buy a different chord to attach to my laptop or a new PDA. It is powered by the lighter since GPS does use some power consumption and the charger powers the Pocket PC. They have a new bluetooth model that requires no wires... looks pretty cool.
I have had mine for a few years and it is the same model only black... I think I paid around $200 with the software... but that was the original version and the software is greatly improved now. I have the upgraded version 6 and it works pretty good.
I need to find a job where I travel more so I can buy the e805 and one of those GPS trackers...certainly looks fun! But since I never travel except on vacation, it wouldn't be much use for me these days.
Knelson,
I believe it will work with Mappoint 2004. I found this forum on PocketPCMagazine's site with this post:

Thought I'd add my experience with this product. I purchased the BT GPS with Ostia software to use with my Ipaq 5550. Setup was relatively easy after a few attempt at enabling (what...read a manual???). Once operational, though, I was disappointed in the Ostia mapping software.
Not willing to wait until an update might provide the functionality I wanted, I purchase another NMEA-compliant package (MS Streets 2004...God help me) that connected flawlessly and contained more info that I would ever need.
Although the total package cost a little more, the end results were worth it. Cordless GPS with a mapping application that, by nature of it's technical/user base, will be kept as current as any product of its type on the market.
BTW, the added cost only amounted to about $25.00 from Ebay (gotta love it) including shipping.
Just my 2 cents
Update: I kept reading further and realized that Mappoint doesn't support the Voice prompts like the native software.

BTW....B-Rad --- This would be a perfect use of Bluetooth (at least for me) ... Also.....this would work perfectly with your 2215 (it has bluetooth right??) ... but if you don't travel much....then it's a waste of money..
My main thing has been searching for homes lately.....I am constantly looking up real estate listings at home.....mapping them out, print them...and then jump in the car......I would love to be able to just bring the newspaper and punch in the next address and go....
