Engaget has gotten wind of some new developments in the quest for stereo Bluetooth headphones. Won't it be simply awesome when you can pop a pair of ultralight headphones on your head and not have to worry about plugging them into a miniplug? No more tangled wires, no more accidentally walking too close to a doorknob, catching the headphone cable and ripping the headphones out of your ears (OUCH! )
According to the article, the main problem is that the creators of Bluetooth, didn?t think anyone would want stereo output over Bluetooth. Thus it was never implemented in the first place. "Open Interface still has more to do before we actually see an iPod with Bluetooth. From the pictures, it looks like their hardware is still too big to fit in portable electronics (pictured at right, one of their Bluetooth modules), but that might just be for test purposes. And even if the hardware shrinks down, there?s a good chance that portable audio players with Bluetooth in them might actually get bigger, if only to find space for a larger battery. If you think your digital jukebox has crappy battery life now, just imagine how bad it will be when it has to drive an MP3 player AND a Bluetooth radio. Oh, and then compounding all this will the fact that you?ll have to recharge your headphones, too."
Post your headphone thoughts here...and I'll put on my headphones and listen to you.
Considering it is more of a data transfer method than a sound transfer, they might not have thought that much about it being used beyond a cellphone headset (mono).
they might not have thought that much about it being used beyond a cellphone headset (mono).
Exactly.....the key problem is they "thought"... when they should have been communicating with potential users about their needs. This is the number one cause of Vendors going out of business, they believe they know what their customers want without even consulting their customers and/or potential customers. Hence...we start hearing stories of "the death of Bluetooth" and "The Rise of WUSB".....If Bluetooth was meeting and exceeding the needs of the market, these stories/rumors would be non-existent.
