This is an interesting device that I found on SlashDot.
It's a tablet/PDA hybrid that is using linux. From the translated TechJapan site: It's called the "LookClub," and it's a not a PC, but it's not a PDA either. I guess that makes it close to a Sony AirBoard? Although not really.
It does, however, use Linux, and is suprisingly affordable. But don't expect to be able to get your hands o*n o*ne soon - NEC will o*nly produce 4,000 of these this year.
The first generation "LookPal" will have an 8.4" LCD display, and an internal CD-ROM drive. It also uses a touch panel screen, making for easy opening of images and other files.
It's a little lite on functionality. It was designed for viewing media files and reading eBooks. But there may be a spot in the market for a device of this size. It may take the place of a tablet PC but it's still not pocketable. What do you think?
