Falsehoods-

Just FYI I followed this Compusa online rebate thing since it came out and here is the outline of what happened. Great deal on their website right wrong it was apparently just to generate traffic to their website.
My justification for this is as follows.
Day 1 of rebate I decide to order one and I presented with a message indicating the quantity of units in my basket exceeded the units available. I figured ok so I checked back with the site every day. Every day I was presented with the same message. I went to a local compusa store even though the quantity when I looked it up via the website was 0 in my area I found the compusa right down the street for me still had 3 units however they could not give me the internet rebate. I went back online and checked all the way up until this afternoon when I was allowed to place my order. The day after the rebate had expired. they still show the units as out of stock but I'm wiling to bet the store down the street still has a few units.
I for one am not amused at this little stunt by compusa to generate webtraffic. Not only did they waste my time wanting to get a better deal but they also came dangerously close to having me cancel another order that was more expensive to get the better deal. I hope others spread the news of this and raise enough of a stink to let others know that this company is still doing things that are border line in ethics.

That's an outrage.

That's an outrage! I don't know what to do...but I want to do something! Did you try contacting them by telephone when you were trying to get the rebate? I purchased it at full price today....but I was online last night at 11:00pm and I was at their website thinking "I should place the order now for in store pickup so I can get the $50 rebate." I decided against it because I wanted one more time of holding it in my hand before I purchased it....
This pisses me off...I sort of feel responsible because I posted it...
