CoolSmartphone has pics of what could be a new Pocket PC Phone. The handset, shown seems to be called the "MPx300" or simply the "MPX". We can't see much on the pictures so far, but apparently it's a Nokia Communicator type product, with a fold out QWERTY keyboard and is running Windows Mobile - although we think this may be the Pocket PC version, as it comes with Pocket Word and Excel etc.
Do you think this is real?

Oh I hope it's real and that its not being limited to GSM (as is typically the case with the really cool phones, god how frustrating).
Not that GSM itself is bad, its just really really bad where I am. If this does end up as vaporware, what are some good ppc-phone options that don't limit the ppc functionality?
Bru...
Yeah but....If it's not on Verizon (which it won't....I know it) then I won't buy it....I have been looking at those smartphones...but Verizon doesn't carry them...I have never had any connection problems with Verizon and I don't want to switch carriers because I've heard horror stories from everyone... (mostly because my phone is 80% of my work)

I'm sure that they will be sold by ATT, Cingular or T-Mobile, and I'm hopping that now that ATT and Cingular are just one company we will see the end of those horror stories
Motorola Announces Innovative Pocket PC Phone
According to an article on brighthand Motorola made the MPx official today. Motorola has just announced the MPx -- a cellular-wireless Pocket PC that combines always-on connectivity and a never-before-seen form factor.
This dual-hinge device will open both length ways as clamshell phone and in landscape mode as an email device with a wide screen and full QWERTY keyboard. It's 2.8-inch, 16-bit color display will use the Pocket PC standard resolution of 240 by 320 pixels, though this can be switched between portrait and landscape modes.
The tri-band GSM/GRPS device will also offer built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless networking.
The MPx will run the Phone Edition of Windows Mobile for Pocket PC, but it is not yet known what version of this operating system it will use. Motorola says this smart phone will be available in the second half of this year, and Windows Mobile 2004 is expected to be available around mid-year. The next version of this operating system could make this device significantly more useful, as it is supposed to include on-the-fly switching between portrait and landscape modes.
It will include a 1.3 mega-pixel camera with flash. It will also sport an SD/MMC slot and a small screen on its exterior to display the time, phone-releated information, and even control the audio player.
Despite this official announcement, not everything about this model has been revealed. Its processor and amount of RAM are not yet known, for example.

wait a minute......
got it... Alpha Geek
