Expected for release in Setember 2004

The OQO ultra personal computer (uPC) is a fully-functional Windows XP PC small enough to fit in your pocket, yet powerful enough to replace your laptop.
The OQO computer is the much-anticipated mobility solution for people who until now had to choose between the bulk and awkwardness of a laptop and the limited capability of a PDA.
The OQO computer has all the functionality of an ultraportable notebook computer, with a 1GHz processor, a 20GB hard drive, 256MB of RAM, color transflective display (for easy indoor and outdoor viewing), 802.11b wireless, a removable lithium-polymer battery, and FireWire™ and USB 1.1 ports. For input and navigation it includes thumb keyboard with TrackStik™ and mouse buttons as well as digital pen and thumbwheel.
The OQO computer is the most versatile computer to date. Standalone, it is as portable as a PDA. With the docking cable, it is no different than a laptop in its ability to connect to projectors and Ethernet networks. In the desktop stand with the docking cable, it is a desktop computer. As a Windows PC, the OQO computer moves seamlessly from one mode to the other with no synchronizing.
With an OQO computer you can move throughout your day and enjoy constant access to all your information and Windows applications. You can use the same computer for high-powered applications at work, sending email at home, listening to music on the subway, or watching a movie on an airplane. It is the only computer you need.

I'm thinking about pre-ordering....I can cancel without any penalties. That would be so cool to pull this out at a meeting... 8)

not a bad plan seeings how there's no real commitment. And I might have the cash then too! hehe
Reminds me... meant to check the dimensions against a PPC, see how much bigger it is.
I see this as being a good desktop replacement but the jury is still out as far as it being a good pda. There is still the consideration of boot time, quick access to calendar, tasks and mp3 player
Sure, it would be nice to dock it like a laptop at work and take it home to dock it there and to have all of your work consistent, but that doesn't mean you can whip it out while driving down the highway at 65 mph, record a 10 second voice note and put it back in your pocket.
I still think I'd need a Pocket PC.
But my ears are open, convince me otherwise
You do make some good points as for it not being an ideal pda replacement, but I do think it would be a good laptop substitute. Perfect for getting away from the desk (if, like me, you work at home.. as a freelance web developer!) Sorry had to get a plug in
Personally, I think I'd prefer something like this over a full blown lappy.
Bru...
If you have plans to give somebody this miniPC for christmas 2006 you should order it now but not if you are planing for Christmas 2004 because may be you wont get it on time.

Yeah, I've seen the same stuff about it being a vapor entity. It's only a matter of time before at least something like it comes to the market though.
