SANDISK SHIPS WORLD’S FIRST PRODUCTION 1GB SD CARD

SUNNYVALE, CA, January 27, 2004 – SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) this week is shipping the world’s first production one-gigabyte (GB) Secure Digital (SD) flash card, which contains a unique “stackable” packaging technology jointly implemented with Sharp Corporation of Japan. This new package employs a low-cost, high-yielding die-stacking process that is designed to enable SanDisk to double the memory capacity without increasing the size of the card, thus launching a new generation of competitively-priced, higher-density flash devices that can store unprecedented amounts of pictures, music and video.

I wonder what the speed benchmarks will show with this card. That type of SD capacity would be great for holding all sorts of data.

Yup...

This would be nice for holding ripped DVDs using DVD to Pocket PC...that is if we didn't live in the US and couldn't use this software. :P
Hey Brad-- did you hear anything from Sandisk about your last SD card?

It's supposed to ship today. I hope... :?
It's been about 3 weeks since I sent it in for them to look at. Seems kind of slow. Hope they don't ship it back via pack mule

What did they say?

What did they do with it? Did they just let it sit around in an office and wait for three weeks and then just pack it back up and send it back to you? "Here, you go....all fixed."

The official diagnoses is "It was missing a distributor cap"
I'll tell you what. I was going to write this up when all was said and done, but there has been NO communication from Sandisk at all. I emailed yesterday because I knew that someone signed for it 3 weeks ago, but that nobody has emailed or called to give a status report (or even to let me know they had it). I was worried that like you said, it might be just sitting on someone's desk. I got a message back quickly that said coincidentally, "It's scheduled to ship 1/27"

Me too, I have read users complaining about the low speed of the 512 sd cards
