The subway trains in Los Angeles have onboard computers in their Brake Control, Automatic Train Control, HVAC and Propulsion Control systems. Traditionally, laptop computers with Windows 98 are used as portable test units because Windows 98 supports DOS and the DB9 serial ports, both of which are necessary. The equipment vendors refuse to upgrade their test software for Windows 2000 compatibility, and it would be fiscally impossible to upgrade all of these system for USB capability.
All that being said, does anyone know of a pocket PC that has DOS capability and DB9 support?
