New to ppc 8125

Hello eveybody, this is my first post an I will be taking the plunge into the ppc world pretty soon. I was offered a good deal on an AT&T 8125 that I cant pass up. I have a few questions. Please pardon my ignorance.
I will mainly use it for Emulators, video, camera, text. I'm not really interested in the Internet aspect although Opera moble seems really cool.

1. My current plan (AT&T) includes only text messages no internet. Will I be able to slip my sim card in and use this phone with my current plan? Do I need to upgrade my plan? Or can I just unlock the phone and still use text messages?

2. From what I read the phone is able to connect to the internet without me knowing to check e-mail, is this true? If so can I disable this while still being able to send text messages? I dont want to recieve a $300 phone bill because the phone keeps checking for e-mail.

Thanks in advance,
~Nick

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase. With regards to your questions:

1. Yes you should be able to use your ATT SIM with your new ATT phone. There is no need to upgrade the plan if you do not want to.

2. You will have to configure the phone to check your emails when you set it up. If you programmed it such that you have to manually check emails, then it would not do it automatically.

to be certain, call AT&T and ask them to block your data connectivity with their 3G. If you accidentally press the internet button or anything like that, it'll charge you.

So, just in case
