hey guys. i just upgraded from an 8125 to a tilt and gave my brother my 8125. its his first pda phone and he loves it. however, the backlight timer seems to always be 5-10 seconds no matter what. i've tried keeping the phone unlocked, i tried changing the timer to a minute, i've tried unchecking the box to not have a timer at all but nothing seems to stick.
i didnt have this problem when i was using it so i'm at a loss, and worse i feel bad cause i feel like i stuck my brother with a bum phone

power save is on the second line, which is technically the first for having the screen backlit.
battery power and external power both have unchecked boxes, and turn on backlight whenever a button is pressed or the screen is tapped are checked on both tabs. regardless, my backlight shuts off after about 30 seconds (power conservation reasons presumably). also, if you go into battery settings, hit the advanced tab. i have both of these set to turn 'off' after '1 minute'.
these general settings have always worked the best for me. if you still have problems, try a soft reset, linking your phone up with active sync, a hard reset, pull the battery out, etc.
if all else fails, its not a coaster yet. you could always have it repaired for a more than likely nominal fee. its not like you put it in the washing machine.
