I have been unable to synch my HP 110 (the new guy) to Outlook 2003. HP support said that this is a known problem, which neither Microsoft nor HP have cared to fix nor alert uninformed customers. The HP tech spent 45 minutes on the phone with me, trying to jiggle Outlook, but to no avail.
Has anyone heard of this and do you have any suggestions for a solution?
I did not ask HP, but assume that Outlook 2007 would NOT have this problem. Can anyone confirm that?
Thanks in advance for your assistance; I look forward to learning about the Pocket PC world.
I am getting an "850" error--which had several additional numbers, but started with "850" and which the HP technician instantly recognized.
Since my initial posting, I also downloaded and installed Outlook 2003 Service Pack 3 (which includes previous Service Packs), but synchroniaztion to the 110 still hangs up (error message after synch) on Tasks, Calendar, and Contacts--again, all outcomes recognized by the HP tech as common.
Open Outlook on your PC and click Help - Detect and Repair. You will your Office CD. Make sure that you disconnect your device before doing that. After repair, conect your device. Again, try to get the exact error code.

Open Outlook on your PC and click Help - Detect and Repair.
I ran "Restore & Repair"--the "Restore my shortcuts" option, not the "Discard customized settings" option. It did not request my program disk.
Next, I synchronized successfully with only "Files" and "Favorites" checked. When I added "Calendar" and attempted to synchronize again, I recieved this error message: Support Code 85010014.
You will need to uninstall and reinstall Outlook and Activesync. Install Outlook first, then Activesync. Reboout your PC after removing both. Keep me posted.

Can't thank you enough for this help.
If I were to install Office 2007, would that take care of this problem?
If so, would the process be straightforward, or would it be necessary to jiggle Outlook 2007 in some way to get it to synch my calendar, contacts, and tasks data with the iPAQ 110?
Whatever version you decice to install should fix it. But just make sure you install Activesync after Office. Open Activesync on your device and click Menu - Options. Select your PC and click Menu - Delete. Restart your pda. and then conect your device to the PC.

This is becoming surreal. I installed Office 2007 before reading your reply (above). I then went to the Control Panel's "Add or Remove Programs", and selected "Microsoft Activesync", in order to remove it from my laptop.
However, the "Change/Remove" option does not then appear, so I do not know how to "Remove" or uninstall Activesync from my laptop.

Again, thanks very much for all of your help--I'm sure you have better things to do.
I did use the setup CD to attempt uninstall/reinstall of Activesynch, but couldn't find a way to uninstall. The "top" option of the HP Setup CD (Setup and Installation) is greyed out and inactive. Not sure why that would be, though I was able to Uninstall Activesynch when Office 2003 was on board.
I then called HP tech support and when I mentioned Office 2007, the Tech said that the iPAQ 110 does not support Office 2007.
If true, I'm at a loss for where to go next with this unit except back to the store.
What the Tech support probably meant to say is that Windows mobile does not support reading Office 2007 documents and spreadsheets. But synchronizing with Outlook is supported. Download Activesync from Microsoft website and run setup. It might let you uninstall the current version.

I did as recommended above, now using Office 2007. I then did a sync with the HP 110, and the outcome was no error messages, my Contacts DATA transferred over successfully, but NO CALENDAR DATA transferred.
Perhaps unrelated, at one point the other night on the phone with HP Support, the Tech asked me to do a hard reset: Windows button, OK button, Record button (to left of soft reset button) and soft reset button with stylus.
I tried several times, but was never able to get unit to do a Hard Reset. Not sure if that indicates hardware problem, or if the Tech gave me the wrong instructions for a Hard Reset.
I continue to see things that give me cause for concern--for example, my laptop recognizes my iPAQ 111 (110?) when I first plug it in, but after the initial sync, Activesync indicates that the iPAQ is NOT connected.
Successful sync with Calendar: On my last attempt to synch with the Outlook 2007 Calendar, the Activesync "progress bar" stopped midway and seemed frozen, so I eventually chose to STOP the synch.
When I went back to the 111, I discovered that for the first time my Calendar had transferred data to the iPAQ.
I have no idea why, but will go from here and hope to find explanations for this sudden "fix", and for the buggy things like the "not connected" designation.
Thank-you very much for your help. I'm very grateful.
On your PC, go to Start - Control Panel and double click User Accounts. Click the link to create a new user. Log off and logon with the new user account and connect your device.
